We often tell people the story behind our business name. Touchstones were black stones originally used by chemists and merchants in the middle ages to test the genuineness of gold and silver. Likewise, Touchstone Memories Video helps create therapeutic "memory" videos that benefit seniors who have been touched by significant transition or impairment by revealing the genuineness or essense of that person. This therapy extends just as powerfully to the family and enables them to better celebrate that elder's life despite the debilitating condition. Touchstone Memories Video was founded by Debbie Dietzel, B.S., M.E. in 2008. When she was laid off work after serving 15 years as a school counselor, Debbie found that all of her training and experiences had led her to this new career path. Debbie discovered in 2001 that not one, but both of her parents suffered from Alzheimer's disease. Debbie and her mother, Virginia, were able to watch a personalized video for the last 5 months of Virginia's life. It greatly helped both of them cope, and it better enabled them to celebrate Virginia's life together.
Although her parents are both gone now, Debbie has dedicated herself to share this wonderful video reminiscence therapy with anyone touched by memory impairment or other life-limiting condition (such as stroke or needing hospice care). People throughout Southeast Wisconsin are encouraged to contact Debbie by phone, e-mail, or drop by her business in Cudahy. People in other areas of Wisconsin or the U.S. may also contact Touchstone Memories Video about getting a 50% discount for personalized videos from family photos that have been transferred onto CD disks. We will be more than happy to help you find a reasonably priced way to have the scanning done if you are unable to do it yourself.
